Saint Mother Theodore Guerin
In 1840, Saint Mother Theodore Guerin journeyed from France to the wilderness of western Indiana to teach the children of pioneer families, to open schools, to care for the sick poor, and to establish a motherhouse and novitiate for the Sisters of Providence.
Truly, Mother Theodore's legacy of care and concern for children, families and people who are economically poor continues today through Providence Self Sufficiency Ministries and the Sisters of Providence.
