Saint Mother Theodore Guerin pilgrimage
Saint Mother Theodore Guerin, foundress of the Sisters of Providence, was canonized by Pope Bendict XVI on Oct.15, 2006. Mother Theodore is only the eighth United States resident, and the first from Indiana, to be named a saint.
During this pilgrimage, participants will learn about an Indiana pioneer who overcame personal and societal challenges to establish a religious congregation, schools and orphanages. The pilgrimage will focus on Mother Theodore's special devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Blessed Sacrament and her relationship with the Roman Catholic Church.
A typical Mother Theodore Guerin pilgrimage schedule may include:
- A video presentation of the life of Saint Mother Theodore Guerin
- Visits to the National Shrine of Our Lady of Providence, the Blessed Sacrament Chapel, and the Shrine of Saint Mother Theodore Guerin
- Eucharistic Liturgy in the Church of the Immaculate Conception with the Sisters of Providence
- A walking tour of the historic sites and shrines on the grounds
- A tour of the Heritage Museum and a visit to The Gift Shop at Providence Center
- Buffet lunch
Pilgrimages are easily adapted to meet the needs of your group (age, physical ability, time, etc.)
