Singer/songwriter Christina Blust's first full CD released Oct. 17 in Terre Haute.
There’s nothing sudden about a new CD released by Providence Volunteer Ministry (PVM) alum Christina Blust that has been in the works for two years. Well, actually, there is — the title track.
Friends and family have long awaited Christina’s first full CD, Sudden Amaryllis, which will be released at a show at Ivy Tech State College’s Oakley Auditorium in Terre Haute, Ind., at 8 p.m. on Oct. 17. The public is invited to this free concert where the album, affordably priced at $10, will be on sale for the first time.
It was while Christina was a PVM in 2007 that she began making the album. Among the friends she made after doing a couple of open mic nights at The Coffee Grounds in Terre Haute was Don Arney of Quantum Music Productions.
“It’s really community based,” Christina said about the album. “He works with other local artists, so it ends up being a nice community.”
One of the songs on the album, Providence, is about another community Christina continues to be a part of — PVM. This song is about her volunteer experience in 2006-2007.
“It’s about my time here, the sisters, the orchard and the big empty spaces,” she said.
She said she’s both relieved and proud that the album is being released.
“I’ve made a lot of friends doing it,” she said. “So many people came together so I could have something to share.”
