The following are the statements of recommitment given in writing on July 27, 2008 during the Providence Volunteer Ministry 20th anniversary celebration at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Ind.
-
Live mindfully; love with a purpose
-
I recommit to being open to Providence and where it takes me; to constantly be listening for that call (for it is easy to get busy and go deaf) and to choosing creative new ways to live out what I believe in relationship with others.
-
I recommit to confirm and stay in touch with the SP dedication to active service and justice and to share how Providence and our charism makes a difference in the lives of others. I also recommit to share my faith, story and the movement of Providence in my life with my family, sisters, friends and others.
-
Realizing that God, our Heavenly Father, has given all things to us from our very first life’s breath to all we could ever need to sustain life I desire to serve Him with my whole heart and being in gratitude.
-
I commit to being open to God’s call, talking about God’s loving care for us with my children and the children with whom I work, supporting the ministries of the Sisters of Providence in the ways that are possible for me (not ALL the ways that are necessary, just those that are possible).
-
As for me, it has been a wonderful experience having a chance to be a PVM and working with the other wonderful people. If I have a chance in the future, I would like to serve again.
-
I commit to always be volunteering somewhere and never again having a period of my life what lacks unconditional service.
-
I recommit myself to works of service and faith. I will pursue greater opportunities to share my talents.
-
I will remember to include those who are excluded whether younger or older than myself and strive to see Christ in everyone I meet.
-
I will continue to give of my time and talents to serve God and my community. I will keep my intentions pure and know that God is in control of my life. I will try to see God in everyone and everything and live and work as I see God in all.
-
Today I recommit to the ministry of PVM as director and to all of you. I recommit to the mission of the Sisters of Providence and to the love, mercy and justice in all the areas of my life — marriage, my children, my neighborhood, my ministry, my faith and the Earth.
-
Service: continue seeking opportunities to shape my faith and talent. Become more active with programs that serve, attend and care for adults with disabilities. Share my faith with others. Be more patient.
-
To get on top of things, to let my first instincts settle for a moment before I act, to use my skills to help others and in turn help myself.
-
My recommitment: I will continue to focus on issues involving discrimination — racism, gender bias, etc. and being an advocate for the poor and disenfranchised. We are all loved by God.
-
I recommit to living out the PVM values of love, mercy and justice in my daily choices and manner in which I interact with others.
-
I recommit myself to serving our Providential God, by looking for opportunities to serve others in my day to day activities; whether it be doing laundry, washing dishes, listening to my husband and children talk about their days, volunteering at my children’s school, or sharing a cup of hot cocoa with a friend. Let me seek you always, Lord, by seeing you in all whom I encounter.
-
With God at my side I recommit to a life of serving Him by loving myself and loving others.
-
Through working as a PVM, I am hoping to move, touch, inspire and transform the lives of people that I encounter by witnessing God’s love, mercy and justice. In return, through God’s grace, come to know Him better.
