This pen & ink drawing of Mother Theodore was done by Terre Haute artist John Laska in 1992.

Born Oct. 2, 1798, in the village of Etables-sur-Mer in Brittany, France, Saint Mother Theodore Guerin led an extraordinary life before her death May 14, 1856, at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana.

After a process spanning nearly a century, Mother Theodore was canonized a saint in the Catholic Church on Oct. 15, 2006, and designated in the Vatican's official record as Saint Theodora.
