In addition to the regular environmental education programs offered at White Violet Center for Eco-Justice, the following is a listing of our seasonal offerings.

March-Early May: Spring wildflowers

Spring is a wonderful time to strap on those hiking boots and explore our woodlands for some amazing wildflower displays. Our nature trail is alive with color as these rare beauties show their faces for just a short window of time.

November-May: Wiggling worms at work

Get an up-close and hands-on look at these magnificent soil builders with one of our worm composting bins. Learn how worms eat, move and live in their dark homes. Gain an appreciation of these unsung heroes and learn how we depend on them to grow crops for our food.

November-March: Follow the river

What happens to a drop of water in the Wabash River in Terre Haute? Where does it go? Students become water molecules to learn water cycle basics and how our actions affect marine animals in the oceans. Create a watershed and realize how water connects all living beings.

October-November: Fall colors

Explore trees and their beautiful color changes at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. This autumn program is based on our popular "Getting to Know Trees." Students become acquainted with these stately beings and learn about the complex interactions underneath the bark. Discover what happens to the trees in the fall, and how and why leaves change color.

December-February: Winter wonderland

Winter is a fabulous time to bundle up and explore nature in a whole new way. Learn what happens to the fish and frogs that populate our ponds and the plants that feed us in the gardens.With a little imagination, students will create an indoor storm and learn a bit about weather and how snow is created.
