Dandelions are usually considered weeds (accidents within an otherwise green lawn). But, the person above is weaving a dandelion wreath for a decoration, so this flower is no accident at all but just what this person needs.
Providence means that everything happens for a good reason. Luck? Naw. By chance? No way! God’s love for us is so powerful that God has a guiding hand in everything that happens to us and everything that we do. It’s kind of comforting, if you think about it. You’re so important to God that nothing is left to chance.
God says it a different way. “We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to God’s purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
The Sisters of Providence are women of faith who show by their words and actions God’s Providence in the world. Daily, we devote ourselves to works of love, mercy and justice while helping God’s people. Who are God’s people? Everyone!
Saint Mother Theodore Guerin started our Congregation of women when she traveled with five friends by ship, train and buggy from France to Terre Haute in 1840, to start a novitiate and school in the Indiana wilderness. We hope that through this Web site, you’ll see God working in your life today. God calls us to love our Creator, each other and Earth, asking us to take good care of everyone and everything that God has given us.
Saint Mother Theodore Guerin
“Every evening at the same hour when the weather was calm, I used to go on deck and bless God for all the wonders of His creation. I loved to consider the care of God’s Providence which extends even to the little fishes,” said Mother Theodore Guerin.
